The 88th wealthiest man in the world -Part 3 - Serge Dassault


Serge Dassault is a French entrepreneur ( Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dassault Group) and conservative politician. According to Forbes magazine, as of 2006 he was the 56th richest person in the world. Dassault's group also owns 82% of Socpresse which controls many important French newspapers and magazines, including Le Figaro, and L'Express. In 2004, Serge Dassault became a senator, and in this position, he has been an outspoken advocate of conservative positions on economic and employment issues, claiming that France's taxes and workforce regulations ruin its entrepreneurs.

Alberto Baillères is the son of Raúl Bailleres. He is today the second richest man in Mexico, and fourth in Latin America, according to Forbes Magazine. He owns a holding company called Grupo Bal, which controls a large number of other companies like Industrias Peñoles / Peñoles the second most important Mexican mining company and the first silver world producer, El Palacio de Hierro a chain of departments stores mainly located in Mexico City, Grupo Nacional Provincial, the only entirely Mexican owned insurance company, and other businesses related with financial services, agriculture and bullfighting.

Ramesh Chandra is the founder of the multi-billion dollar Indian Real Estate company Unitech. As of 6 October 2007, his net worth was estimated at $10.4 billion, making him the eighth wealthiest Indian. A structural engineer, he moved into real estate in 1985 to build middle-class homes. His publicly traded company, Unitech, run by his two sons, is building a 350-acre (1.4 km2) community of luxury homes in the Delhi suburbs with a Greg Norman signature golf course. Partnering with Indonesia's Salim Group to set up special economic zones.

Charles W. "Charlie" Ergen is the co-founder and CEO of EchoStar Communications Corporation, the former parent company of Dish Network. In 1980, he founded EchoStar with his wife Cantey and Jim DeFranco, targeting rural audiences for satellite dish service. He hosts a show called Charlie Chat on the Dish Network.
He is the 89th richest person in the world with a net worth of $9.1 Billion.

The 89th wealthiest man in the world -Part 2 - John Kluge


John Werner Kluge is a German-American entrepreneur and a billionaire. He is best known as a television industry mogul in the United States. Kluge's major move into media was by purchasing stock in the Metropolitan Broadcasting Corporation in the mid-1950s. In 1986, Kluge sold the Metromedia television stations to the 20th Century Fox film studio, which was now controlled by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, for a reported USD $4 billion. Those stations would later form the core of what would become the Fox television network. The following year, Forbes Magazine placed John Kluge at the top of its list as the richest man in America.

Ronald Owen Perelman is an American billionaire investor who made his fortune buying beleaguered corporations and re-selling them later for enormous profits. Once the richest man in America, he is now the 26th richest American, with an estimated wealth of USD$11.5 billion. He has invested in grocery, cigar, licorice, makeup, car, photography, television, camping, security, lottery, jewelry, banks, and comic book companies. Throughout Perelman's tenure at the Belmont Iron Works (later renamed Belmont Industries) he assisted his father, Raymond, on many other deals, earning millions of dollars in the process. Their general strategy was one Perelman would follow for the rest of his life: Purchase a company, sell off superfluous divisions to reduce debt and generate profit, bring the company back to its core business, and either sell it or hang onto it for cash flow.

Berlusconi is the founder and major shareholder of Fininvest, one of the country's ten largest privately owned companies, which currently operates in media and finance. Berlusconi's main company Mediaset comprises three national television channels, which hold approximately half the national viewing audience, and Publitalia, the leading Italian advertising and publicity agency. Gautam Adani is an Indian businessman. He is the chairman of the Adani Group, a leading trading and export company of India. On November 16, 2007, Forbes magazine announced that Adani was the 13th richest person in India with a personal wealth of US$6.7 billion, making him the first billionaire from the city of Ahmedabad.

Petr Kellner is a Czech businessman. He graduated from the University of Economics, Prague Faculty of Industrial Economics, in 1987. In 1991, after the announcement of Czechoslovak voucher privatization he founded, with Maděryč and Winkler, the investment fund PPF (První privatizační fond). In 1992, PPF investiční společnost a.s. was established and the funds’ names were changed from privatisation to investment. The funds were very successful and purchased stock of more than 200 corporations with value over 5 billion CZK.

Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov is a Russian billionaire of Uzbek origin. He is the majority shareholder of Metalloinvest, a Russian industrial conglomerate, which he founded to manage Gazprom's metals interests. Usmanov is a major shareholder in London's Arsenal Football Club, following in the footsteps of fellow Russians Roman Abramovich, owner of rival Chelsea, and Aleksandr Gaydamak, owner of Portsmouth.

The 96th wealthiest man in the world -Part 3 -Adolf Merckle


Adolf Merckle was a businessman, and one of the richest people in Germany. Most of his wealth came from inheritance. He developed his Bohemian grandfather's chemical wholesale company into Germany's largest pharmaceutical wholesaler, Phoenix Pharmahandel. Adolf Merckle committed suicide on January 5, 2009 by throwing himself in front of a train near his hometown of Blaubeuren. It was believed that his cement company was unable to make payments on a huge loan taken out to purchase an English competitor.

August von Finck, Jr. (born 1930) is the son of August von Finck, Sr.. Sold his insurance company Allianz and his private bank Merck, Finck to Barclay's Bank in 1990. Invested the proceeds in real estate companies, restaurants, hotels, an Austrian chemical manufacturer, an insurance group, breweries and a champagne maker. Manages it all from his tax-free hideaway in Switzerland.

Now the next 3 wealthiest people that all occupy the 96 place in our count. They all have $9.2billion estimated wealth. I've divided this in 3 posts so that everyone of them would have their separate section.



Aburizal Bakrie is an Indonesian entrepreneur and politician. In 1972 he entered the family business PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk that had been founded by his father Ahmad Bakri; the conglomerate had prospered during the Soeharto regime. The Bakrie group conducts business in agriculture, real estate, trade, shipping, banking, insurance, media, manufacturing, construction, and mining.

The 99th wealthiest men in the world-Part 1&2- Mohammed Al Amoudi and Onsi Sawiris

The 99th place is occupied by 2 people both having $9.1 billion net worth.

Mohammed Al Amoudi is a Saudi Arabian /Ethiopian business magnate who lives in Ethiopia and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al Amoudi made his fortune in construction and real estate before branching out to buy oil refineries in Sweden and Morocco. He is said to be the largest foreign investor in both Sweden and Ethiopia. He holds an Honorary Doctorate in Philosophy from the Addis Ababa University and has been honoured with the Swedish Royal Order of the Polar Star by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.



Onsi Sawiris is an Egyptian businessman, estimated to be worth approximatively $9.1 billion according to Forbes. However, he founded the Orascom conglomerate, whose construction, telecommunications and tourism divisions are run by his three sons, Naguib Sawiris, Nassef Sawiris, Samih Sawiris, . Other companies he owns include El-Gouna spirits (which was then bought by Heineken) and Orascom Trading. Orascom is involved in tourism development, telecommunications, construction and other fields.

The 101st wealthiest men in the world - Part 1&2- George Soros and Robert Kuok

Why the 101st? Well there are 2 people on the 99 place so there's no 100th place. But still there are 2 people on this 101st position. Their names are George Soros and Robert Kuok.



George Soros has a net worth of $9.0 billion and has made his fortune from Soros Fund Mangement. He is a Hungarian-born Jewish American financial speculator, stock investor, philanthropist, and political activist. In the United States, he is known for having donated large sums of money in a failed effort to defeat President George W. Bush's bid for re-election in 2004.



Robert Kuok is an influential Malaysian Chinese businessman.His net-worth is also $9.0 billion and has made most of it from sugarcane plantations. According to Forbes his net worth is estimated to be around $10 billion on May 2008, making him the richest person in Southeast Asia.
